Heather Hartwig Counseling

In person and virtual psychotherapy

I help midlife professionals who struggle to say no and feel like a failure when they don’t meet the expectations of others in their lives.

My clients struggle as you do. Despite it looking like they have it all together, being smart, and determined to make lasting changes, life is hard.

When they first come in, they feel exhausted, overstretched, and like they have lost trust in themself. They feel scared that life will always feel this way.

They worry that the people that matter to them will abandon them if they say no. Or that they will let others down by putting their own needs first, if they even know what their own needs are.

They feel like holding up a giant sign that says “I need help,” but they fear that would make them dramatic and they would be ashamed of voicing such a need.

Their fear of saying no gets in the way of the life they want in so many ways. They aren’t the kind of person they want to be. They feel like they’re failing at  being a mother/daughter/friend/partner. And their confidence at work is tanking.

How I can help you...

I would love to be with you on your journey to a more relaxed life where you still have safety, know you are good enough, and maybe you can learn to rely on others a bit more than you have in the past. I use a variety of therapeutic modalities to help my clients achieve these types of goals.

I am an IFS Level 2 trained therapist and I often incorporate parts work with my clients, as it is a helpful framework for understanding ourselves.

I have been practicing as a therapist for 5 years after working for more than 20 years in the corporate world and deciding it was time for a big change.

Weekly or bi-weekly 53 minute therapy sessions either in office or via Telehealth for Minnesota based clients using insurance or through cash pay. I am in process of credentialing with several insurers including BCBS, Aetna, UHG, and Medica. My cash pay rate is currently $185 per session with sliding scale options sometimes possible.

Intensives are longer therapy sessions from 90 minutes up to 4 hours. These longer sessions facilitate the possibility of deeper work with less frequent sessions. Contact me to determine if a therapy intensive is right for you.

I am a licensed supervisor in Minnesota for LGSW social workers working towards their LICSW license. I am also available for consultation for other therapists upon request. Please send an email to inquire.
